Chico Lima is a grappler and champion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is the Head Instructor at RYSK Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. To be a successful BJJ instructor, one has to experience the challenges and get through them all. It involves years of grappler experience and fine-tuning of techniques and strategies on the mat. Chico has been a black belter for 4 years. His role extends further than demonstrating the moves and methods. His passion for passing his knowledge of BJJ is what moved him to open up his own school.
Being a Jiu-Jitsu instructor is a full-time job that requires dedication. Not everyone can demonstrate martial art techniques because not everyone is fit for the mantle of being a BJJ instructor. Chico has shown more and is willing to impart what he knows to students who want to become better people through Jiu-Jitsu.
Francisco Lima was born in Recife/Pernambuco, Brazil in 1980.
Chico has been training in Jiu-Jitsu since 2001 and was able to be accorded the Black Belt in 2018 under Master Carlos Gracie Jr. He has been diligently working towards the development of his own school and providing the best to the community.
He always had an affinity for martial arts. Once introduced to the world of Jiu-Jitsu, he fell “in love”. Jiu-Jitsu has become a very important tool in his life and has given him all that he has in his life. Through Jiu-Jitsu, he met his wife; his real friends, and his work partners.
“Jiu-Jitsu and I are one,” says Chico. Through his training, he has built a strong and confident character. He also found another passion for books that furthered his knowledge and gained more information. Jiu-Jitsu is a powerful transformation tool and through this people can be better human beings – having more confidence, discipline, respect and they learn to be team players. Jiu-Jitsu is a form of martial arts that pushes students to be better inside and outside of the mats. Decisions in life are inspired by Jiu-Jitsu.
Chico met Matt Bowyer training Jiu-Jitsu, through it they developed a strong connection that went beyond only on the mats. They took a step forward and decided to open a jiu-jitsu school together. RYSK Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the result of this connection and friendship between the two.
He believes that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a powerful energy that is a force to make one change for the better. BJJ provides a different perspective and creates awareness. It also makes a person know his body and his mental state. BJJ develops confidence and self-esteem which are key elements to success.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an art form that once one has started there is no end. Students will be pushed to become better and to learn more and more. There is no end when it comes to BJJ training.
